Have you had your Poke today?

So my events job finished and I had the best time working with Achmea! Now I’m working full time with Poke.

Our team had grown and we were in a great place, ready for the crazy summer rush! We went out a couple of weeks ago for our Christmas party and boy was is good! We first of all tasted the new cocktails on offer in the restaurant; pina colada and a gin, mint and coconut concuction. It was such a tough job, but it had to be done by someone 😜 Then the team packed up and went down to Churrasco, a little bit tipsy by this point, which is a Brazilian barbecue restaurant.

Here’s the team outside the shop:

The food was immense! We had:

  • Beef brisket with a cheese sauce
  • Honey soy chicken
  • Griddled haloumi
  • Brazilian cheese balls
  • Garlic steak
  • Chicken hearts

We ate so much we felt sick, but it was well worth it!

The next event on the cards was our Tiki night; an event to celebrate these new cocktails and that we were opening an extra day. All our regulars attended, there was an abundance of drinks and poke available. We served:

  • Crab with wasabi mayonnaise
  • Tuna with a chilli shoyu dressing
  • Salmon with a ponzu jelly
  • Salmon with a sweet sesame dressing

Here’s a photo of the evening:

After the last crazy few weeks, we were back to business as usual and serving our delicious food.

One morning, the owner of the restaurant asked if I could prepare a poke and I was so excited (it was kind of a big deal). So I decided to make: garlic prawns, lime aioli, red onion, edamame beans, celery and dill.

Here’s a pic of my creation:

I received high praise for this dish and cannot wait to make more!
